Conventions of teen dramas in Bling Ring

The Bling Ring is a movie written and directed by Sofia Cappola based on actual events located at Calabasas, California.

The film is based on the Hollywood Hills Burglars, who are a group of 7 teenagers and young adults who robbed several celebrities over a period of time;Paris Hilton being the biggest victim of the Burglars.

Although the film is a biography, the main genre of the teen film is drama through crime as the film's purpose is to entertain.

There are many themes in the movie, the most obvious being teenagers wanting to mirror the glamor life of famous well-known celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton by stealing from their houses.

Peer pressure by friends is also portrayed through the character Marc, especially in cliques. Fitting in, being popular and obtaining materialistic property such as designer items from Chanel, illegally,  are amongst the other themes of the movie.
